Forum for the Future is a sustainable development charity. Our aim is to show that a sustainable future is both possible and desirable. We work with forward looking organisations in business and the public sector to find practical ways to build a future that is environmentally viable, socially just and economically prosperous.
The Climate Group is an independent, non-profit organisation dedicated to accelerating the international uptake of corporate and government best practice in emissions reduction. We have offices and charitable status in the UK, USA and Australia and are expanding into India and China in 2007. Proactive companies, states, regions and cities around the world are demonstrating that the cuts in GHG required to stop climate change can be achieved while growing the bottom line. Using the work of these leaders as a catalyst, The Climate Group strives to accelerate international action on global warming with a new, strong focus on practical solutions. Since launching in 2004, we have developed an interlocking programme of sectoral leadership groups, research and publication, media engagement, and high-impact events. Our coalition has demonstrated that emissions reductions, while essential, can also be profitable. We inspire further action and outreach and mobilise business and sub-national governments to implement and support effective strategies and policies that mitigate climate change. We also promote the development and sharing of expertise on how business and government can lead the way towards a low carbon economy while boosting profitability and competitiveness.
The Carbon Trust is an independent company funded by Government. Our role is to help the UK move to a low carbon economy by helping business and the public sector reduce carbon emissions now and capture the commercial opportunities of low carbon technologies.
Global Cool is a movement with a unique ten-year campaign harnessing the power of the individual to move climate-change in the right direction. Attracted and connected by popular entertainment, a massive online community will collectively reduce billions of tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere and buy the planet enough time to reverse global warming and introduce cleaner, more efficient forms of renewable energy. By inspiring billions of individuals to do their bit, Global Cool will actually demonstrate the “cooling” of the earth as it happens, linking personal pledges and donations in one giant “Coolometer”, counting down carbon emissions “tonne by tonne” as more people join the movement every day. This isn’t cheap talk, Global Cool is backed by the biggest names in popular entertainment and the smartest brains in environmental science, who know that a billion people x one tonne reduction of CO2 per person = a billion less tonnes of CO2 = a significant slowdown in global warming. Rather than preaching to the converted, Global Cool seeks to entertain, inspire and recruit an army of responsible global citizens who can do something cool and literally change the world we live in for good.
